Gurpreet Singh Sandhu has been banned for Bengaluru’s next two ISL games after receiving a straight red card against FC Goa.  Gurpreet had a forgettable night at Goa as his side was thumped 4-3 in a pulsating clash.

All did not go well for the tall Punjabi lad as he was shown a straight red card in 36th minute for lashing out at Lanzorate after the Goan forward provoked him. Though Gurpreet was provoked, he should have known better to keep his emotions in control.

The error in judgement from Gurpreet proved fatal for the former I-league champions as they lost their first game of the season. The repercussions did not stop there as the tall Indian International will have to sit out his team’s matches against Northeast United and Pune. He was also fined 3 lakhs for his misdemeanour as per AIFF disciplinary code Article 49.

“Mr. Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, Player (Jersey No. 1) of Bengaluru FC is fined Rs 3,00,000 (three Lac INR) and is suspended for 2 (two) matches of Bengaluru FC, from the date of this decision. The amount should be deposited to All India Football Federation within 10 days from the date of communication of this decision and until such payment, the Match suspension to continue, over and above 2 Match suspension,” quotes AIFF Disciplinary Committee report.
