Reports have emerged that the star attraction of Indian U17 football team, Komal Thatal is all set to join the two time ISL champions, ATK.

After a reported falling out with Matos, Komal was not included in the Indian developmental side Arrows to feature in the I-League this season. Though the coach did not play the Sikkim forward after the first match in the world cup, Komal was a prime prospect to the boost the squad of Arrows.

Komal was the poster boy of the Indian football team of U17 world cup. The forward had a relatively good start to stardom and the fans were excited to get to see him donning the Indian colors again. Komal was unable to break into the team for the next few matches and consequently missed out on selection in AFC U19 qualifiers as well.

Komal was on track to become part of the AIFF pet project, the Arrows side but it is understood that his agent was ready to wait for an ISL club to come calling. Komal was offered contracts by other I league clubs including Minerva Punjab but the winger had his eyes firmly set on featuring in the glamorous ISL. Arrows have had a decent start to the I league this season and the young colts appear to be growing every game under Matos.

It now appears that ATK have secured the signature of this teen sensation and he will be a boost to their injury hit squad. ATK have struggled so far this season and are languishing at the bottom of the table, primarily due to injuries to key players. The addition of Komal is a welcome news but it is still to be seen if the lanky 17 year old will see any first team action this season. In all probability he will see very little action this season while the likes of Jeakson and Anwar will grow gaining invaluable match experience in the I league.

For the sake of Indian football, we hope that Komal reaches greater heights under the stewardship of Teddy Sheringham.
