Chennai City on Fire, Signs Aussie Shotstopper for the Upcoming League Season

Chennai City is looking the busiest in the on-going transfer season amongst all the I-League clubs. Today the Southerners have announced the signing of 23-years old Australian Youth Team International, Jerrad Tyson on a long term contract.


The 6ft 2in tall showstopper is a Youth product of Australian A-League side, Gold Coast United and prior to signing up for the Tamil Nadu based I-League Team, he was a part of the established A-League sides like Perth Glory and Western Sydney Wanderers FC. Besides winning the 2010 Australian Youth Leagues with Gold Coast, Jerrad has also won the Weifang Cup with the Australian U18 Youth Team in 2007.

Apart from this goalkeeping recruit, last week Chennai City announced the signing of a centre-forward, Pedro Javier Manzi Cruz, who holds a dual citizenship of both Uruguay and Spain, into their roster. He last plied his trade with CE L’Hospitalet, which happens to be a third-tier football club in Spain. Javier comes with ample of experience required to relaunch Chennai City FC’s challenge to the the trophy home in the upcoming season. 


The Coimbatore based club, earlier signed two more Spanish origin foreign players, Sandro Rodriguez Felipe (midfielder), and Roberto Eslava Suarez (defender). Both the players have spent most of their footballing career with clubs in the lower leagues of Spain.

Chennai City FC, who are presently looking forward to the start of their pre-season training camp from the mid of July, under the newly recruited Singapore based manager, Akbar are not going to stop the summer signings just yet as they are presently looking for another European face to bolster their squad for the upcoming I-League Season.
