In one of the most lucrative transfers after the window opened, Bayern Munich has signed World Cup winning French defender, Benjamin Pavard from VFB Stuggart on a five-year-old deal for 35 million Euros.

In the face of a resurgent Borrusia Dortmund, Bayern is currently six points adrift of the leaders with a total of 36 points in their kitty.

In their recent games, Bayern relished mixed-bag results as they were tamed by a soaring Borrusia Dortmund and then drew with a depleted Fortuna before making a strong statement in the Champions League against Benfica. However, their Bundesliga woes continued as a numerically depleted Werder Bremen gave the defending German champions a run for their money.

With Ribery and Robben announcing their departure at the end of this season, Bayern was still to strike the right combination under the chaperonage of Niko Kovac. A major signing was lurking in the cards and hence came down the blade upon the anxious wait.

Bayern announced the signing of the 22-year-old French side-back who made the headlines for all the right reasons after leading the French national team to a World Cup glory.

Pavard hogged the limelight when he went on to score a screamer against Argentina from a Lucas Hernandez cross. This is just one of his abilities to charge on a break and unleash a few pile drivers of his own. His other abilities include some phenomenal aerial tussles and his blistering speed on the wings.

Bayern’s official twitter handle read, “💬@Brazzo: "Pavard is a young player and a world champion. We're delighted and very proud to have been able to secure the services of a player like him." #MiaSanMia

This will be a big move for the youngster and Bayern will be looking forward to fighting back with all their might in the ensuing games to challenge Dortmund for the league with the rest of the games to spare.
