After a major furore raking up the entire Indian football canon over the broadcast of I-League games, AIFF finally decided to come to the League’s aid. AIFF has declared that the remaining twenty-eight games which came under the axe of Star Sports, will be aired on digital platforms like Hotstar and Jio TV with proper highlights laced with pre and post-match-shows.

The cost of the airing will be borne by AIFF, after the nationwide protests over the telecast row of the matches.

There was some serious controversy doing rounds against the broadcasters opting for the more popular ISL games. The first game which was aired ‘Over the Top’ platforms was between Aizawl FC and Indian Arrows, which the latter won by 1-0.

An official told Times of Indian recently, “We have arrived at this decision in consultation with Football Sports Development Limited. There will be commentary, highlights and replays for these games. Only five-six home games of Real Kashmir FC will be shown on Doordarshan Kashmir. We are still in dialogue with DD and we will probably get the feed for those matches too.”

Such a piece of news was greeted with arms wide open by the Indian football fans after all the war waged by them led by some eminent football personalities in India. It was decided by the official broadcaster Star Sports initially that only 80 out of 110 games will be shown. This enraged the fans who were not ready to accept this decision and decided to voice their opinion.

It seems that their efforts have finally fructified, as AIFF has finally found a solution that made everyone happy. This will be a win-win situation for the fans across the country, who will not be missing out on any of the games that are being played in the country now.
