After Gurpreet Singh Sandhu blazed the trail by becoming the first Indian to feature in a Norwegian club, Staebaek FC, Lallianzuala Chhangte will be the second Indian to be headed for trials to another successful Norwegian club called Viking FK in February.

Viking Stavanger is one of the leading clubs in the land of the midnight sun and is currently under the chaperonage of former Norwegian star, Bjarne Berntsen. They will be featuring in the elite football competition of the nation which is known as the Eliteserien. Despite being champions for eight times in this prestigious fray, they were relegated in the preceding year and fought their way back to the top after a gritty display in Division 1.

This trial was initiated by Krish Roy, Director, Business Development and International Relations of German Football Academy in association with TSC Asia.

Chhangte is in blistering form with Dynamos for this season and his absence from the Asian Cup line up sparked a major uproar amongst the Indian fans.

With Indian Super League all set to resume from 25th January after the international break when ATK will cross swords with Kerala Blasters, there were high speculations that Delhi will probably be reluctant to release one of their most instrumental players, who has been highly effective in Delhi’s run for the top four.

However, after some severe consideration and with some discreet discussion rocking the Delhi tables, the club has approved Chhangte’s flight to Norway and this will probably be during the middle of February in the break between the games.
