In a battle of the low-lying contenders of the Indian Super League table, Delhi brushed aside an ordinary Kerala in a comfortable victory for the hosts.

The opener came from a resultant corner where there was a massive confusion between Dheeraj Singh and Cyril Kali, as they bumped into each other, while the Frenchman cleared his lines.

Mihelic curled in the set-piece for a waiting Zuiverloon who blasted the ball into the net to draw first blood. Within a couple of minutes of the opener, Delhi almost doubled their lead, as Nishu Kumar pulled back the delivery and squared it off for an onrushing Mihelic, who blazed the ball over from close range.

Kerala almost restored parity within seconds of the second-half resuming, as Lekic-Pesic’s glancing header from a Stojanovic free-kick rattled the woodwork.

Kerala came close to scoring again as Lalruatthara unleashed a meaty piledriver, that compelled Dorronsoro to fly to his right tipping the ball away in the dying embers of the game.

Delhi caught Kerala on the break and a back-pass that had too much meat fell at the feet of a sprinting Chhangte and it was Lalruatthara in collusion with Dheeraj, who quelled the move by tripping a goal-bound striker. The referee gave marching orders to the Kerala defender and pointed to the spot. Mihelic stepped up and secured the victory for the hosts.
