Breaking: Khalid Jamil was never the wanted man by Aizawl FC

Last year after the end of the I-League, Khalid Jamil was sacked by Mumbai FC. 2 years with the U-19 side followed by 7 years of being the manager of the senior side had faced a sad end. What might have disheartened others due to the disappointing news he was handed, Khalid took it as an inspiration to bounce back.

Khalid never saw it coming from Mumbai FC. After the I-League commenced last year, he had already indulged himself in his planning for changes and upgrades in the squad and pre-season sessions. He is always stern with his vocal tone whenever he speaks about Mumbai FC even at this time of celebration at Aizawl; quite evidently Mumbai FC did leave a deep scar.

After being officially out of job, Khalid was in search of something to do. Many would expect a manager to be approached by a professional club. On the contrary, it was Khalid who had approached Robert Royte, the Club Owner of Aizawl FC to give him a ‘chance’ for the managerial job at the club. Khalid was adamant of proving himself before the management committee of Mumbai FC. He always showers his gratitude towards Robert Royte for giving him the chance he was dying to grab.

We are also known of the fact of how Ashutosh Mehta, Jayesh Rane and Albino Gomes have contributed to this dream-come-true venture of Khalid Jamil. This Trio had played under Khalid at Mumbai FC, and consequently was carried away from the shores of Mumbai to the hills of Aizawl by Khalid to assist him during his period at Aizawl FC.

Though celebrations have already started at Aizawl, Khalid is still quiet and focused on the Last Match at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Aizawl where he wants to win the I-League title in winning ways against Lajong. He is quite aware of not losing concentration as Mohun Bagan still does have chances to win the title on the final day of the league depending on how Aizawl performs.

Khalid has even learnt the local language Mizo in order to converse well with the players and the locals in concern. This journey of Khalid Jamil and Aizawl FC resembles to that of the Fairytale Ending of Leicester City in the last season of the English Premier League. Leicester City have already sacked Claudio Ranieri at the mid way point of the season and are struggling to crawl up to the top-half of the Points Table of the Premier League.

What we expect from this ‘Dream Chaser’ is to consistently make his boys perform well in the I-League next season and make sure that the development of football in the North-East is enhanced by this revolutionary movement from Khalid Jamil. Indian Football and its fans are in love with the sheer genius of this Man and are looking forward to see more from Khalid and his Boys.
