East Bengal FC’s Managing Director Kalyan Majumder has come out fiery against the media houses which are claiming that the UB Group is backing East Bengal to  bid and participate in the upcoming Indian Super League season. Some of the Bengali news sites including the reputed Bartaman ran this report recently and lavishly enjoyed more views than any other Bengali media got since then.

Kalyan Majumder via an email clarification informed Jersey that the afoot news is bogus and baseless. Majumder, who’s the driving force behind EB’s success for the past some time even told Jersey that he’s poised to file a legal complaint against the rumourmongers as they’re setting question marks between the clubs and the sponsors.

Here’s the official statement made by East Bengal’s Managing Director:

We refer to a section of the Media Reports which have stated that UB Group have agreed to provide Rs 25 crores to Kingfisher East Bengal Football Team for their participation in the ISL.

We would like to reiterate that the news Reports are baseless and figment of Media imagination in entirety. No such deal has transpired between the Club and their sponsors.

We also feel that such malicious reports are being  intended to create a  wedge between the Club and the sponsors and accordingly strongly deny the same.

Well, it's only been a while that the ISL Working Committee and the IMG-R have proposed a merger among East Bengal and Mohun Bagan and there’ve been numerous stories that have already instilled the fake notions among the fans of both sides. Majumder also informed Jersey that both the clubs are going to hold a press conference soon, denying from all the fake news’ floating around point by point and will urge the fans and other media houses not to follow the list of channels mongering rumours. This indeed talks itself as what Majumder has said is only the echo of what Srinjoy Bose of Mohun Bagan told us. Are the two biggest football clubs in the country are in direct war with a few media houses?
