Finishing their fourth season in the I-League this season, Bengaluru FC experienced mixed emotions from performing badly in the I-League to snatching the Federation Cup from the metal hands of Mohun Bagan. Amid these feelings, the Club celebrated the Award function on Friday to celebrate the performances put up by the players. Here are the winners:

Udanta Singh

The 20 year old prodigy has won both, the Players’ Player of the Season’ as well as the ‘Fans’ Player of the Season’ at the annual Bengaluru FC Awards Night. He has been a very important player in Albert Roca’s Bengaluru and Udanta has been providing consistent performances to remain in his experienced side throughout the season. And the award helped him get the nod from the players and from the stands as well.

Sunil Chhetri

Bengaluru FC skipper Sunil Chhetri also bagged the award for the ‘Top scorer of the season’ for the fourth consecutive time by netting 12 goals this season and his strike against Johor Darul Ta’zim in the second leg of the semi-final gave him the ‘Goal of the Season’ as well.

This award show also included recognition for the academy players of Bengaluru FC from the U-14, U-16 and U-18 squads. Defender Nihal Iqbal, Lalrinzuala Lalbiaknia and Ajay Chhetri picked up the under-14, under-16 and under-18 best players awards respectively. Future prospects are looking good for Bengaluru FC with these Academies. This certainly makes Albert Roca look at the brighter side of the club once it settles into the Indian Super League.

Nishu Kumar

The 19 year old Nishu Kumar won the award for the most improved player. This award became special for young Nishu after it was presented to him by the icon and the club skipper Sunil Chhetri alongwith John Johnson. Nishu has been remarkable this season having played five games this season.
