After a long and tiresome summer, North East United have finally risen like a student who likes to study on the final day before the exam and completes the exam somehow. Just like that analogy, the Highlanders, after being quiet for the entire transfer period, today announced their entire foreign contingent in one go, unveiling as many as eight new faces.

North East United announced the signing of eight fresh faces on Twitter with a post which read, "#Highlanders you have waited. Here are the men who will represent #NEUFC. Presenting our #InternationalSquad for #ISL 4..." The Guwahati based side will see the likes of Marcinho, Jose Goncalves, Sambinha, Wellington Da Silva, Odair Fortes, Martin Diaz, Adilson and Luis Alfonso Paez playing for the John Abraham co-owned side.

Only Marcinho and Sambinha were linked with the club in the last few weeks. The signing of the other six figures have come as a big surprise for the fans and media alike. The most crucial among these can be the acquisition of Marcinho who plays in a number 10 position and Luis Alfonso who is expected to be the club's leading striker.

It is believed that all of the foreign recruitments have been picked personally by head coach Joao De Deus with the majority of the signings having a Portuguese flavour to it. Other recruits like Sambinha plays as a central defender whereas  Odair Fortes and Wellington Da Silva have a natural position as forwards. Martin Diaz and Jose Goncalves are the full backs which North East have signed.

Though there are no star signings this time around for the Islanders, a surprise factor concerning their team composition might make them the underdogs for the upcoming ISL season. North East United also have a strong Indian contingent in the form of Rowllin Borges, TP Rehenesh, Lalrindika Ralte and Holicharan Narzary. Coupled with flair players like Marcinho and Luis Alfonso, NEUFC can spring up a few surprises in season four.
