The football loving Indian fraternity is currently being swept by the waves of the football fever called FIFA U-17 World Cup, the first ever FIFA event in the Indian sub-continent. But amidst all these, the top flight Indian football clubs have silently begun their preparations for I-League and the Indian Super League.

This would be the first instance in Indian football when two top tier leagues will run in parallel. As a consequence, almost all the teams of these two leagues have started their pre-seasons. Two or three months ago when the dilemma regarding the much hyped I-League-ISL merger was afoot, AIFF proposed the concept of a league taking 4 top clubs from each of the two leagues. Although the elite footballing body finally did not give a stamp to the project but the fantasy of witnessing I-League and ISL clubs locking horns is going to become a reality as the respective clubs have scheduled multiple matches against each other as part of their pre-season preparations, the latest addition being Kingfisher East Bengal.

The rumours were in the air for quite some days now but it was just yesterday that the club confirmed the news of them crossing swords with the prominent names of ISL. Here's the schedule of their Pre-season tour matches against the Indian Super League franchises:

Vs Bengaluru FC (2 matches)

•Dates: 25th and 27th October

•Time: 8 AM (IST) onwards

•Venue: Kanteerava Stadium, Bengaluru

Vs FC Pune City

•Date: 30th October

•Time: 8 PM(IST) onwards

•Venue: Balewadi Complex, Pune

Vs FC Goa

•Date: 3rd November

•Time: TBD

•Venue: Bambolim Stadium, Goa

Besides these 4 matches announced officially, the Red and Gold Brigade may play another pre-season practice match against ISL newbies Jamshedpur FC in the first week of November if sources are to be believed. But it's still put on hold as the venue is yet to be decided.

Not only does East Bengal but their arch-rivals Mohun Bagan and also other I-League clubs have matches against ISL clubs being scheduled. Although the entrance to the cash-rich baby of IMG-R could not occur this time around, the millions of supporters of the Kolkata Giants will get the taste of a semi-ISL like environment and the ISL franchises may also get a true taste of 'Legacy'!
