The Indian Super League Media Day in Kolkata this Saturday invited the likes of Delhi Dynamos, North East United, Jamshedpur FC and ATK on single podium contributing to an interactive session with the National Media. Taking an opportunity, Jersey spoke to Mehtab Hossain, the ex-Kerala Blasters Midfielder who followed the Englishman Steve Coppell from Kochi to Jamshedpur to take up the challenge of winning it for the Brand new team in the latest season of the Indian Super League.

Tata Football Academy(TFA) of Jamshedpur has gifted some of the top-notch talents since it’s inception in 1987, who’ve come to highlights with the growth of Indian Super League. When asked about any exciting young face from TFA in the Jamshedpur FC squad, Mehtab told Jersey that he is of high hope about two youngsters who might become the next superstars of Indian Football!

Mehtab spoke highly of the young Bengali goalkeeper — Rafique Ali Sardar who’s the third Goalkeeper in the Jamshedpur based outlet. "He is very talented and does have the ability to become one of the best! His courage is his strength and that is what makes him better than many of his age.”

"If Rafique maintains his dedication towards the game and everything goes well for him, he will someday become as big as Subrata (Pal)!" Such a big statement for a young player; there is definitely something special in the kid!

He showered words of laudation on the 20 year old Mizo prodigy Jerry Mawihmingthanga as well. According to Mehtab, Jerry is a player of high potential! "He is very good on the ball and a great finisher. We are looking on to him as he can become the next Sunil Chhetri of India." Last season, Jerry Mawihmingthanga represented DSK Shivajians in the I-League; he made a single appearance in the ISL for North East United in the previous season.

Steve Coppell, an admirer of youth, has replicated his ideology of relying on youngsters during the drafting of ISL 2017-18. As it will be a 5-month long league this time around, we expect to see these young legs getting more game time and expressing more in the field of play. Will Rafique & Jerry live up to the expectations of Mehtab and someday become celebrated figures of Indian Football?

Well, that’s for all of us to wait and witness. For now, we wish all the players a very good luck for the upcoming Indian Super League season…
